12th Cyprus Wine Competition

The 12th Cyprus Wine Competition is organised by the Department of Agriculture under the auspices of the International Organization for Vine and Wine (OIV), as well as of H.E. the Minister of Agriculture, ~Rural Development and Environment.
Co-organizers with the Department of Agriculture are the Municipality of Limassol, the ~Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the ~Association of Cypriot Wineries (SOK), the Union of Qualified Oenologists of Cyprus (EPOK), the Sommeliers Association of Cyprus, the Oenophile Club of Cyprus, and the Oenophile Club of Ammochostos.
The official launch of the various wine events in the frame of 12th Cyprus Wine Competition was carried out on Wednesday 6th March 2019, 16:00-18:00 at Limassol Centre of Agricultural Training g. ~The officers of the Department of Agriculture have presented the ~Competition’s Rules of Procedures on the basis of the OIV Resolution 332A/2009- “Standard for International Wine and Spirituous Beverages of Vitivinicultural Origin Competitions.
A Wine of Cyprus Expo will be organized by the Oenophile Club of Ammochostos on Saturday 30th March 2019, at Ayia Napa Adams HOTEL, 17:00-22:00, while on Saturday 6th April 2019, a similar Wine Expo under the title- “Wine-Flavors of Cyprus”, will be organized by the Oenophile Club of Cyprus at the pre-entrance of Nicosia Town Hall (next to Eleftherias Square), 18:00-22:00.
The official Press Conference is planned for Tuesday 9th April 2019 at “Panos Solomonides” Cultural Centre in Limassol, at 10:30, hosted by his H.E. the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and the OIV President.
On Wednesday 10th April 2019, the Department of Agriculture has organized a Technical Conference under the tile “The wine production in the sphere of differentiation and global competitiveness” at “Panos Solomonides” Cultural Centre in Limassol, 18:00-22:00. The key objective of the panel is to highlight the unique role of the indigenous wine varieties in various vitivinicultural regions, as an element of authenticity and differentiation from the global competition.
The Wine Competition is carried out during a fourth day tasting session (9-12 April 2019) from an esteemed seven member Jury of International Tasters under Dr. Regina Vanderlinde, OIV President.
During the week of 12the Cyprus Wine Competition, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is organized various field trips in the “Wine Roads of Cyprus” for the invited foreign journalists.
At the summit of the wine events is the “Award Ceremony and Official Dinner”, on Saturday 13th April 2019 at the Royal Hall, in Nicosia, 19:00-23:00.
